Question for experienced needle felters

Hi all. I am faced with such a question for experienced needle felters. In the last work, for fluffing, I immediately used five reverse needles of 40 gauge, tied in one bundle with a rubber band, but now doubt has crept into me. 🤔 Did I do the right thing? On the one hand, the number of punctures increased by the area, and it seems like it saved time. Maybe it will be more efficient to work with one reverse needle? Yes, it takes much more time, but perhaps the fluff will improve. Who thinks? Thanks in advance for your replies🙏

I fluff the toy with only one needle. It’s more comfortable for me. I tried to create wool with two needles but did not like it. And I also noticed that if you use reverse needle No. 40, the hair turns out to be shorter, and the process is longer than if you use reverse No. 36. In this regard, I use the appropriate needles on different parts of the surface of the toy.

    Hello! When working, use a
maximum of 2-3 needles. Otherwise, you can ruin the surface. The number of
needles you use will tear the wool, and the toy will become soft, even if you
initially felt it tightly. One needle for a long time, but two – and speeds up
the process and protects the surface. A quality toy will delight both you and
    the buyer😉

Hello Arianna! I work with one needle. I tried several needles – and I felt damage, uneven surface. I work with a needle number 40. I think that with one needle, although it takes longer, the surface is worked out more carefully and without damage.

    In my opinion and
experience, two reverse needles No. 40 are the best option: both quickly and
    efficiently!!!

Thank you for your answers. Otherwise, I was tormented by suspicions that I was still doing something wrong. By the way, when fluffing, I used reverse No. 36 at the beginning (I couldn’t buy No. 40), but there was a lot of “fluff” pulled out from it, then I bought the reverse No. 40 “fluff” has become less, but it is still present on a needle, and I still have extra balls of wool. Do you have fluff waste?

Hello. I use 1, 2, and 3 needles at the same time. When using one needle, the wool is more prolonged. At the junction of colors, I use only one needle to control the process and not damage the place between the two colors. Fluff on the needle periodically appears because the hairs can tear and come out. I still comb the surface (if it is necessary according to the idea, otherwise sometimes you need to leave a ruffled surface), and there is also wool on the comb, but despite all these operations, the toy is still dense and fluffy remains) 36 I don’t use a needle at all. It seemed to me too rough😉

Thank you, and what do you comb the toy with? I usually comb the fluff with a needle.Thank you, and what do you comb the toy with? I usually comb the fluff with a needle.

The combing technique depends on the master, so everyone combs it in a way convenient for her and not harmful to the toy. Someone with a needle, someone with a comb, and so on.
